Local attractions
There are many things to do and see in Newstead and the surrounding area. Although there isn’t a big banana, pineapple, merino or prawn, there are still some nice places to wander around and enjoy. Many local places of interest can be found on Google Maps.
Just down the road is historic Maldon and Castlemaine. Further afield is Maryborough, Daylesford, Bendigo and Ballarat.
If you don’t want to hang out with a bunch of geeks on the Saturday night, the community newspaper, The Newstead Echo, is holding a fund raiser in town. It should be a good night and is very reasonably priced. $10 entry and BYO alcohol.
