Getting there - carpooling and transport
So now you’ve realised what a great event StixCamp is and registered - what next?
A number of people are carpooling to the destination:
- Kathy is travelling from Geelong on the night of Friday 13th and is picking a person up from Waurn Ponds and has room for up to one more
- Josh is travelling from Preston and is taking two people
- Michael is travelling from Northcote and has room for up to three people
If you need a lift or can offer a lift, please leave a comment below and we’ll get you in touch with each other.
We’re also planning a pickup at Southern Cross station at 8.45am for the 9.15am train to Bendigo, stopping at Castlemaine, which should get everyone to StixCamp by 11am or so. Tickets to Bendigo from Southern Cross are $23.20 return (which is less than the petrol would cost!)

Hi George - if there’s enough interest we’re planning a pickup at Southern Cross station and then taking the train to Bendigo to Castlemaine. We’ll then ferry people to the venue from Castlemaine - it’s a 15 minute drive from Castlemaine to the venue.

Hey I’m just wondering if Michael still has any space in his car from Northcote. I’m in Fitzroy so it’d be easy to arrange a pickup point near both of us. Cheers.

I live in Pakenham and will be getting the early train to Southern Cross Station, is there enough interest for train travellers to Castlemaine to be able to be picked up(ferried) to Welshmans Reef?

We are encouraging people to get the 9:15 train - arriving at 10:54. A cab is about $25-30 to the venue, split between 4 should work relatively cheap. We looked at booking the maxi taxi but there wasn’t enough interest. If things change by tomorrow lunch time we can book it.
If there is only 1 or 2 people, maybe someone could swing by and pick you up on the way through.
